Matt White to play a special election eve show at the Bowery Ballroom on November 3rd!

Matt has teamed up with Gap to support the iconic brand’s ‘Vote for’ campaign, which gives people a platform to express their ideas and opinions via a classic Gap t-shirt that simply says, “Vote for______.” At Gap stores nationwide, Matt performed an acoustic set while individuals customized a free Gap “Vote for _____” t-shirt with whatever they are passionate about this election year. Earlier this summer, Matt White created his own “Vote For Love” t-shirt, which he wears in his new video for his single, “Love.”

At the show on November 3rd, Gap will give all concert goers a voucher that they can use at a Gap store in New York City to receive a 15 percent off any purchase and a chance to snag a free Matt White special edition “Vote For Love” t-shirt, while supplies last.

Hey guys, it’s Matt. . .
I wanted to let everyone know about a Public Service Announcement I just made for Strong American Schools (www.strongamericanschools.org ).
I was happy to do my part to get the word out about what's going on with the American educational system - and things we can do to help it improve.
The PSA we created is on my page - and features the instrumental from one of my songs - can you guess which?
It also can be found in a collection with the other artist PSA’s (Kanye West, Tony Hawk, Moby, Chris Cornell, Natasha Bedingfield and many others) - on a widget that has the entire series - that you can find on strongamericanschools.org (. . .there's also some good information there about what you can do to help out, or just be informed.)

“Songs Of Freedom” came to life when I was inspired by Gap's vote initiative. Gap is dedicating the next several weeks to inspiring people to vote and for decades they have stood for self expression and individuality. What better way to express your individuality than to vote? So I partnered with the Gap to create sort of an anthem for this 'voting' season. It’s not necessarily about politics. It’s about having an opinion or a passion and really standing for it. I have always been inspired by the great poets and songwriters of the 60's and 70's... The songs that 'really made us think.' I hope “Songs Of Freedom” inspires people to get out there and stand for what they believe in!

CHICAGO, August 22, 2008 – With one of the most important elections for our nation on the horizon, Gap and singer/songwriter Matt White invite Chicagoans to voice their passions by customizing a free Gap “Vote For_ ” t-shirt on Friday, August 22. Whether it’s the White Sox or Cubs, Giordano’s or Uno’s, Tribune or Sun-Times – everyone is invited to fill in the blank at Gap on Michigan Ave. while enjoying an acoustic set by Matt White, one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Artists to Watch.”

The in-store event is part of Gap’s “Vote” initiative, which gives people a platform to express their ideas and opinions via the iconic Gap white t-shirt.

Earlier this month, Matt, who debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s New Artist Chart and is in the middle of a late summer tour promoting his new single “Love” off his debut Geffen release Best Days, created his own t-shirt, “Vote for Love”, which he’ll wear throughout the tour. His t-shirt can also be seen in his upcoming video “Love,” which was recently filmed inside a New York City public bus and debuts this fall on video outlets.

“My friends at Gap have created this really simple shirt that lets you express what’s important to you,” said Matt White. “Music is how I express myself so I wrote “Vote for Love” on my shirt. I think it will be really interesting to see all the topics, opinions, words and expressions that the people of Chicago voice.”

While Chicago is the first stop on Matt’s tour in support of Gap’s “Vote” initiative, he’ll also be traveling across the U.S. – from Philadelphia to Orlando and Los Angles to San Francisco – encouraging people to use his tour bus as vehicle of self-expression by adding their thoughts to his “Vote for Love” message on the exterior of the bus.

hey everyone!

first and foremost, i hope you're all enjoying your summer.

sorry, it's been so long since i've written, but there is lots to catch you all up on!

my record label is about to release my 2^nd single, which is "Love" and will be on your radio stations soon, so please make sure to start requesting it. my song "Love" will also be featured in an upcoming mcdonald's commercial. which is amazing! i actually just got back from LA where I was filming my little cameo role in the spot. everyone at mcdonald's and arnold (the ad agency) were super cool. i'm pretty sure that the commercial starts airing on september 1^st.

i'm also about to shoot the video for "Love", which i'm so excited about, because we're shooting it in my hometown of new york city.

let's see, what else, oh yeah… i'm leaving on thursday for a little summer mini-tour, so make sure to check my website for all of the dates and come see me if you live in a city nearby the shows. i'm completely honored to be opening for the legendary B.B. King at his show in new hampshire. i'm also about to announce a bigger tour that goes from august 11^th – september 11^th, so stay tuned for those (and, yes! i'm finally coming to the west coast!).

canada, here I come! i'll be playing some shows with Sheryl Crow as well as some of mine own shows the last week of september/first week of october, so check out my website for those dates and more will be added soon. i think my album comes out there on september 2^nd.

lastly, the people have spoken and selected a winner from salt lake city for the people's choice contest. i'm so looking forward to getting into the studio and recording the new version of "New York Girls" and going to the people's choice awards show with the winner in january.
